Rawality the Souljahress (aka Hip-Hop's Wife) is one of the best female lyricists in the UK! Hailing from Birmingham, she has been writing and recording tracks for 20 years - thus making her loyal and dedicated to Hip Hop.

She started off as a child; entertaining her parents by singing and dancing. She was introduced to a live Jazz band were she marched and played the kazoo. Her sister played the drums for the band. The band leader introduced her to the piano at an early age so she went on to study classical music, music theory, music technology, drama, acting and media studies.

From there, she branched off to writing songs and poetry. Rawality grew up on various music - from Motown, Diana Ross & the Supremes - to Pink Floyd, Beatles, The Drifters, Jimmy Hendrix, Stevie Wonder, Musical Youth and a mixture of different music.



Music Features

Her 1st release was with Lyrik Born Clique around ‘95 - who are better known now as MD7 (Moorish Delta 7) Other featured UK releases include: The Black Sumarai album - 'Life Of A Struggler' - and the tune everyone recognises her for was the (Fe- Fi- Fo- Fum) track 'Soldieress' - featured on The Experiment Volume1 album produced by Cipher Jewelz of 7 Entertainment, and the 'Death Or Dishonour' track featured on the MD7 Power and Glory debut album which she also did a video for.

Rawality was put forward for best female UK rapper at the UK hip-hop awards. She was a support act for Redman some years ago, which she says made her stronger as she did not get a good response from that. Rawality aims to be one of the biggest selling UK independent artists.

Other features are: the S-Squad Mix CD, Malik from MD7 (Underworld Mix CD) and Children Of The Last (Pythagorus Preying Mantis) days. Other collaborations include Nihillis'iss (The Duchess), Paradox (The Usual Suspect) and Wandering Dragon - these are artists she wants to continue working with.


Future Projects

She is now concentrating on the business side of things, as she has done 2 albums and feels it is now time for her to unleash and release her own music, with total control over her material. Rawality composes her own music and has worked with just about every local producer. Rawality is now working on various projects with other producers. The main producer on the album is 'Da Major' (owner of 'Vomit Produktionz' studios) she says he is the best when it comes to mixing and producing.

Recently, she did a track in London featuring artists such as Peachez, Skinny Man, Doc and Baby Blue were all involved. She is also featured on Freddy Krugers 'Married To The Streets' video, and has endless amounts of other artists to collaborate with.

Rawality will be heading to New York to make links with some underground American artists such as 'Smooth the Hustler' – she will be working with Smooth and his crew to put out some music together.

Plans to work with one of Floetry's producers are in the pipeline, and she has collaborations to do with people from all over the world (Texas, Sweden, Denmark, France, and California. Rawality plans to take a break when her album has been completed and released, and would like to tour all over the world promoting her music and working with new artists.

Rawality is a very committed and dedicated individual, who has been working hard in the UK music industry for a very long time. She is keen to work with new people and take on new projects, and feels she sets a good example for other female rappers who are trying to make a successful career out of music.
